It's that time again.

Did you know that just 3 teaspoons of blood can save a baby's life?

Imagine what a pint can do.

Commit for life. Give blood.

Where? What time? They show up at church with no warning...so I don't know to come early or to plan to stay late. I gave in college every time it was possible to give, but haven't given since then...because I don't know where to go!

I got stuck with a scalpel last July, so I found out that I can't donate until 1 year from the incident. :( Sadness.

sarah - owwww

anyone who might know - have they figured a way to get the blood without sticking you with the needle the size of a turkey baster? Want to help out, but their is a deep (and probabally irrational) fear of needles

i have never given blood. i try and try and am always rejected for some new and exciting reason. its such a bummer, i wholeheartedly support it.

I can't give blood due to a genetic blood disorder which runs in my family. But there is a solution to the turkey baster needles...if you have teeny-tiny veins (like mine) they use a teeny-tiny pedi-needle on you. Either that, or they get frustrated and give up after sticking you 17 times in the arm and they switch to a vein in your hand, which hurts even worse.

sarah - yeah...that happened to me when I was stuck with a needle...that's not fun

gl - the garden hose (or turkey baster) is necessary...you can do it! It only hurts for a second.

Go for it! I always squeal when they put the needle in, but that's more out of worrying about the needle rather than it being very sore. I figure I do much worse to people every day anyway - it only seems fair to let them stick needles in me once in a while!
